Removable Slide in Skeg 
A nice feature of this design is that the skeg can be removed with the kayak inflated or deflated. This may come in handy in shallow waters or in river currents. On flat-water, the skeg reduces yaw (swinging to the right or left). This increases track-ability during long flat-water touring, maximizing efficiency.
Modular Rigid Drop Stitch Floor Provides Double Protection For Whitewater Action 
The unique modular design of the SEA EAGLE Explorer features a super-rigid, high-pressure, drop-stitch floor that sits on top of an outside floor. This has several advantages. The high pressure DS floor provides great rigidity and super responsive paddling performance. The reinforced outside fabric floor provides a double layer of added protection so it can bounce off rocks, logs and other objects you may hit in whitewater. The modular design allows the DS floor to be easily removed for quick and thorough cleaning.
16 Rapid Self - Bailing Easy To Open & Shut Drain Valves

After positive flat-water experience with the 473rl, I got my 420x about a year ago and took it out to explore class II-IV rivers in Switzerland. It's robust and stable, and I am impressed with the excellent self-bailing capacity and how little damage it took from the rocks I hit in the sometimes narrow rivers. The separate floor makes cleaning and drying easy. It's not super lightweight but taking it on the train to starting points close to a station worked well for us. Sea Eagle service is very friendly. It would be great though to add flexibility to packages; I do, for instance, prefer the hand-piston pump, the backpack and would not have needed paddles. All in all, a 5-star recommendation to get this boat for white water or for great stability on flat water!
